The Civic League, with the hearty support of the Mayor, Mr. Troup, who is at his wit’s end with regard to the unemployment problem, proposes to set up a community fund. A resolution was carried that steps be taken by way of appeal to the general body of citizens to do all they can individually, and, through various societies, to further two objects: (1) To push forward any small works by which deserving men may be employed; (2) that everyone who is hi employment should contribute some portion of Ids means towards the establishment of a community fund, which will go towards the establishment of a fund to find employment for an additional number of men.
