ALLEGATION OF FALSE CHEQUE. ACCUSED REMANDED IN CUSTODY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Having avoided arrest since April 6, Douglas Charles Hopewell, aged 28, described as a surveyor, was charged in the Police Court yesterday with obtaining £8 by means of a valueless cheque. It wae stated by Detective .Studholme that other charges were pending. Hopewell was remanded in custody..
