NEW FLOOD IN ARKANSAS

SETTLERS DRIVEN BACK * SHELTERING IN MOUNTAINS RECONSTRUCTION HELD UP By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received June 7, 7 p.m. New York, June 6. News from Little Rock, Eastern Arkansas, states that farmers engaged in rehabilitation work were again driven to the hills when a new flood came down. This threatens to devastate the properties of Crittenden County residents who but recently abandoned the relief camps in the mountains to which they have been confined since the first outbreak. The new floods have made startling advances in the reconstruction work, and now an impending torrent, which will result in the overflow of the State’s four largest rivers, threatens to drive upwords of 20,000 people back to the hills. Trouble has been feared during the past few days owing to the torrential rains. Mr. Hoover and his aides therefore remained in the vicinity, preparatory to lending assistance. All the streams are practically in a state of flood again, and the authorities anticipate at any moment new breaks in the levees and subsequent reflooding.
