ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY
MEETING OF COUNCIL. The monthly meeting of the council of the Taranaki Acclimatisation Society was held last night. Present: Messrs. G>. Grover (chairman), Dr; G. P. Adamson, W. J. Bell and T. V. Simons. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. W. R. Johns, W. S. Bamsey and N. S. James. It was decided that the ova purchased this year should be 350,000 brown, fiom Southland; 100,000 rainbows, from the Government hatcheries, the order to be conditional on the appointment of a curator, The Auckland Acclimatisation Society forwarded a resolution supporting the system of issuing short period licenses at Taupo, but was of the opinion that the present fees for whole season licenses were inequitable, both by way of comparison among the three divisions of anglers and in the establishment of special fishing districts. It was advocated that these should be replaced by an annual fee of 30s for the whole Dominion, with corresponding decreases for ladies and boys under 16, the Government to receive one-third of the revenue to be applied towards territorial fishing rights and general acclimatisation purposes. —The suggestion was not supported by the local council.
