BIG FIRE IN ALABAMA
DYNAMITING SAVES DISASTER. POSSIBLE EXPLOSION AVERTED. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received June 6, 7 p.m. New York, June 5. At Montgomery, Alabama, firemen dynamited a city block, stopping a fire after two million dollars worth of damage had been done. The fire started in a rubbish dump and swept the wholesale district. The explosion saved the largest hotel and big powder deposits in the Loeb building which, if ignited, would have wrecked the city.
