Amy, the little daughter of Mr. Atua, o’ Moturoa, died on Sunday night from pleurisy. As a child she won sixth place, with 10,212 votes, in a baby competition organised by the High School Old Girls’ Association in 1917. At the Moturoa School she captivated her comrades and led the children in their games. From an operation for appendicitis about Easter time she recovered well, but further trouble grew and, though she seemed well on Sunday afternoon, a fatal attack of pleurisy in the evening carried her off at 8.30 p.m. Sincere regret is felt by all who knew her, and sympathy is extended to her parents.
