ICE=WATER FOR HEALTH
THE UNITED STATES HABIT USE IN DOMINION PREDICTED OPINION OF AUCKLAND ANALYST (Special to News.) Auckland, Last Night. "It is my opinion that we shall in future cease to supply ordinary water to school children and large bodies of people,” said Mr. A. J. Parker, consulting analyst, when giving evidence thia morning before the water commission. “We will give it to them in the form of ice-water.” “Now I know that the average Britisher thinks ice-water is bad. 1 am a Britisher and I changed my mind. When I went to the United States I had the same idea as any other British person, and thought it was dangerous, but the only way to try the thing out is to see the results. “Many think it dangerous to fill the stomach with water at a temperature of 45 degrees, when the stomach is at 90 degrees, but 1 saw and suffered no ill results. Drinking ice-water is very siml. lar to eating ice-cream. Good ice-water is very refreshing.” Mr. Parker explained that in the United States, one could get ice-water almost everywhere. It was given to school children, and was available in all places of amusement. “I think it would be a good thing,” he said, “if we were to give a little more consideration to thto question of giving ice-water to our children, or if not ice-water, then cool water at any rate. “This may seem to be a thing for the future, but I think we should keep it in mind, and be prepared to press for it.*
