PRACTICAL HELP TO BLIND
WORK OF JUBILEE INSTITUTE. By Telegraph.-Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. At the annual meeting of the Jubilee Institute for the Blind, the chairman (Mr. H. E. Vaile), referring to the Sir Arthur Pearson Memorial Fund, said it now amounted to £02,000. This revenue had enabled them to give practical help to blind people all over the Dominion, financing them into businesses, trades, farms and homes, and solving difficulties which formerly would have effectually prevented many a blind person from becoming established in independence. Their activities under this fund were legion, and the results deeply gratifying. The administration of the director, Mr. Clutha Mackenzie, was praised by the Hon. George Fowlds, reference being made to the recent criticism.
The two retiring members of the board of trustees, Messrs. H. E. Vaile and T. W. Wake, were re-elected by an overwhelming majority. The result of the election was as follows: Vaile 104 votes, Wake 101, Morton Adlis 17, Mrs. M. Dreaver 13. Mr. Vaile was unanimously re-elected chairman of the board.
