SPORTS ASSOCIATION

CALEDONIANS’ MEETING. The annual meeting of the executive of the Caledonian Sports Association was held at Stratford last night, when Mr. J. L. Campbell presided over a fair attendance. The balance-sheet showed a small credit balance, but the chairman attributed that fact to the small gate charges at the sports meeting of the last year which was held at Hawera. The question arose about the choice of places for the next meeting. Several members were in favour of the meeting being held at Eltham, but the New Plymouth representative held that Eltham was not wholly suitable as a meeting place as it was not very large and it was doubtful whether the gathering could make a success. It was finally decided to hold the meeting at Eltham. The election of officers resulted as follows.—Chief, Mr. W. L. Kennedy; secretary, Mr. S. E. Prosser; auditor, N. Drayton; committee, Messrs. G. Eimpson (Hawera), J. V. Laurenson (pipe bands), J. L. Campbell (Eltham), S. McAllister (Stratford), J. Jamieson (Stratford), D. Clement and J. M. Crawford (Eltham), A. N Mac Diarmid (New Plymouth). Votes of thanks were accorded to the Hawera sub-committee to which the success of the gathering was largely due, and to the secretary.
