CHEERFUL TRAVELLERS
ASSISTING BUSINESS REVIVAL. By Te.egraph.—Press Association. Auckland, April 4. The Dominion conference of th© New Zealand Commercial Travellers’ Association opened to-day. Mr. A. Thompson, the president, said that Britain was making a wonderful recovery from her time of trial. There was to-day in industrial and commercial circles a feeling of hopefulness and revival. He asked the members of the association to do their bit by reviving the spirit of hopefulness here. Every effort should be made to dispel the spirit of pessimism, which was largely responsible for the present depression in trade, to develop cheerfulness and optimism, to see that the dawn of a brighter day in business was not long delayed. A special report dealing with assistance to blind soldiers and sailors, stated that, since the last conference, blind soldiers had been assisted to the extent of £778. Th© total income amounted to £lB2l 9s 9d. The amount of the fund at present was £5732 5s lid, of which £5507 was invested. The conference decided to affirm the principle of a United Charity Day throughout the Dominion.
It was decided to hold the 1928 conference in Wellington. The following officers were elected:— President of the United Association, Mr. T. E. James; treasurer, Mr. H. H. Wauehop; auditor, Mr. H. Bicknell; member for board of management of the insurance department, Mr. A. Drake; members of committee of th© association’s journal, Messrs. W. A. Drake and 8. A. Orchard.
