TEACHERS’ REFRESHER

SOCIAL EVENING AND DANCE. The teachers attending, the refresher course in New Plymouth were entertained last night at a very pleasant social and dance at the Kawaroa Park bungalow. Items were contributed as follows: —Songs, Misses Ritchie, McKee and Lunan, Mrs. Leech, Messrs. D. Taylor, McKinney and Ridling; violin solo, Miss G. Leech; vocal duet, Messrs. D. Taylor and Lyall; recitation, Mr. D. Jillett. The arrangements were in the capable hands of the social committee, consisting of Misses Papps, Andrews and Harper, and Messrs. G. H. Lyall and H. F. McClune. The action of Messrs. Bree and McNeill in offering their services for dance music when required was much appreciated. PROGRAMME FOR TO DAY. At nine o’clock this morning instruction in handwork and Maorj arts will be continued at the Central School in Course A and in Course B. Mr. N. R. McKenzie will lecture in the Workers’ Social Hall on Modern Educational Tests. At 10.45 a.m. in Course A, instruction in Rhythmie Movement and Folk Dancing will be eontinued at the Technical School, while in Course B School Music will be the subject of an address by Mr. E. Douglas Taylor in the Workers’ Social Hall. At 1.30 p.m. Mr. N. R. McKenzie will lecture on Handwork, and in the evening the Women Teachers’ Association will farewell Misscf Mynott and Slattery.
