Elaborate preparations have been made for the entertainments which the Duke and Duchess of York propose to give during their world tour. Provisions have been placed in the storerooms so ample as to necessitate the enlargement of the refrigerated space on the Renown. The ship carries enough fish to last until she reaches Australia. Six thousand eggs are also stored. New Zealand butter will be used throughout the tour. Among other things, there are 200 cases of game and poulty, and a quantity of venison from the Royal parks. Many pheasants were Sent from Sandringham by the King, who also sent all the bed linen from the Royal yacht, as well as the glassware required, which is specially fine. The King generously suppucU a large store of wines, spirits and liqueurs from the Royal cellars, some of which are priceless, having been laid down for a century. Received Jan. 5, 8.30 p.m. London, Jan. 5. The Earl of Cavan joins the Renown to-day. The rest of the party will accompany the Duke and Duchess of York to-morrow. When the Renown leaves Portsmouth and proceeds down the Channel, all the warships have been ordered to keep outside the course, and the submarines have been ordered to come to the surface. The barge which the Duke will use is a fast steamboat painted royal blue. TOUR OF THE DOMINION. COMPOSITION OF TRAIN. It is expected the party touring with the Duke and Duchess of York in New Zealand in February and March will number between 50 and 60, and the A—rway Department is making up a special train for each island. Mr. F. J. Jones, chairman of the Railway Board, will be in charge of the Royal train. The train to be used in the North Island will probably be made up of four sleeping cars, a day car, a dining car, a kitchen car, a composition car, partly for stores and partly for dining, and the new Ministerial car, which is to be used by the Duke and Duchess. The Royal car, which is being built for use as a Ministerial ear after the tour, will be specially fitted and decorated to accommodate the Royal visitors. A pilot train will precede the Royal train and an emergency train will run in the rear. Seventy or eighty police will accompany ‘the party in order to control traffic at the. various centres to I visited. Although sleeping accommodation will be provided for them in the North Island train, the Duke and Duchess will probably not find it necessary to use it. In file South Island a sleeping car will not be necessary for them. An A.’B. class locomotive will be used to draw the train from /luckland to Rotorua and thence to New Plymouth and Woodville, and an A class engine from that town to Napier, and back to Cross Creek. The train will be hauled up the Rimutaka Incline by Fell engines and from the summit into Wellington the trains will be worked by W.W. class engines.
