PUBLIC ON THE MOVE

WELLINGTON RAILWAY FIGURES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The total number of passenger tickets sold from the Wellington booking offices from December 1, 1926, to January 3, 1927, shows a falling off of 7001 compared with the same period of last year. There was a big increase in long-dis-tance bookings and the falling off was in the shorter trips. This is attributed to the increased use of the motor-car for shorter distances. The actual figures of the bookings are:— 1926-27 1925-26 Thorndon 23,846 29,721 Central Office 12/109 10,633 Lambton 19,685 22,577 Totals ..... 55,930 62.931
