A despatch states that extraordinary scenes marked the attempts of Paris police to arrest Maurice Rambourd, a dangerous character, who barricaded himself in his lodgings after shooting an inoffensive coster-monger. The police demanded that lie should 'surrender, upon which Rambourd partially opened the door and fired twfee, then recloscd the door. The police decided to use gas and the street was barricaded. Huge crowds watched the proceedings. As the first wave of gas reached him, Rambourd shot himself dead. ' ' ■
