H.R.H. the Duke of York has chosen as his orderely Corporal Hunt, who accompanied the Prince of Wales. Major Hunton, an Anzac war-time intelligence officer, will have charge of the special squad of marines and buglers, including a bugle major and drum-major for ceremonial purposes. The whole of the Commonwealth’s plate and souvenirs are housed on deck adjoining the royal apartments so as to be visible to visitors in Australia. Received Jan. 2, 5.5 p.m. London, Jan. 1. The Renown, resplendent in a new coal of silver-grey and looking like a giant fairyship, was the scene of the greatest activity in Portsmouth dockyard yesterday. Sailors and dockyard men were constantly passing up the gangways, taking aboard furniture and stores, while carpenters, electricians, fitters and shipwrights wer e putting the final touches. As a matter of fact, the Renown, to the civilian eye, appeared far from ready, but there were really only details of furnishing and decoration to be done.
The furniture includes a dining table 31ft long, wnich will seat 18 on each side. The drawing-room contains a handsome combined wirelees set and gramaphone, giving music from either the ether or the record. There is also an electric piano aboard, and an additional electric grama phone.
