IMPRISONMENT A HABIT

BRUTAL POLISH METHODS. London, Dec. 19. Mr. John Bukett, Labour M.P. for Gateshead, and Mr. A. Shepherd, Labour M.P. for Darlington, who recently visited Poland in consequence of allegations of brutal treatment of prisoners in Polish gaols made in the House of Commons, have returned. They state that prisoners are often detained for live years without a trial. They are beaten and tortured with electric wires in order to induce them to make’ confessions against Communists. “Poland has the prison habit,’’ said Mr. Shepherd. “Everyone, from General Pilsudski downwards, has been in prison at some time.”
