RACING IN AUSTRALIA. JOCKEY’S DEATH MARS DERBY DAY By Telegraph—Preas Aeen.—Copyright. Perth; Dec. 29. Derby Day was marred by a serious accident in the Karrakatta Plate. Rounding a turn one horse fell, bringing down four others. Alfred Todd, an apprentice riding Merry Beggar, waa so seriously injured that he died in hospital. The jockey Corry was also taken to the hospital seriously injured. Two horses were badly hurt and had to be destroyed. RACING AT ADELAIDE. Adelaide, Dec. 29. The Port Adelaide Cup resulted:— Parcistef (7.12) 1, Santoan (8.13) 2, Leachim (8.2) 3. There were 19 starters. Won by a neck. Time, 2mln 4see.
