The first day’s races of the Dargavill© Racing Club’s meeting were held in showery weather, but the attendance was good. The course was in good order. Ine totalisator handled £B2OO 10s, as compared with £0067 last year. Results:—

MAIDEN HANDICAP. Six furlongs. —2 Takuranga (Dulieu) 1, 1 Edifice 2, 6 St. Lucas 3. Ako started: Wee Marble, Queen Rewa, Master Arch, Corinax, Creation. Won by three lengths, a neck between second and third. Time, Imin 16 3-ssec. TOKATOKA HANDICAP. Six furlongs.—s Illingar (Koesing) I, 3 Adjustor 2, 1 Festina Lente 3. Also started: Passionate, Tliursby, Marble Mount. Vvon. by three lengths, a neck between second and third. Time, Imin 16sec.

TJ.C. CHRISTMAS FIRST DAY'S ACCEPTANCES. SPLENDID FIELDS ASSURED. Splendid acceptances have been received for the first day of the TJ.C. Christmas meeting, which opens on Boxing Day, and as that was all that was required, a successful meeting is assured. For the Christmas Handicap there have only been four defections, viz., Te Monanui, Tresham, Scat and Royal Mint, leaving a good field of eleven, whilst for the Flying the defections of Merry Jest, Monaghan, Eh Timl and Hlghflown leave a fine field of fourteen. In the Rahotu Hack Hurdles there is a field of sixteen, the principal defections being Taweht, who is reported ta have gone amiss. In the minor events acceptances are veryheavy also, the lowest number being 14 and the highest 25. Indeed, in the Stewards' Handicap and the Tikorangi Hack Stakes, in which the entries are 25 and 23 respectively, divisions may be necessary. The acceptances are as follow
