FORTUNATE ESCAPE

INJURED MAN ON RAILWAY. TRAIN MISSES HIM BY INCHES. By Telegraph.—Press Associatioa. Napier, Last Night. As a ballast train was about to pass Pukehou this afternoon, the engine driver noticed a man lying on the station platform with hie legs hanging over the edge of it. The train was promptly stopped, but not before the engine had passed the man. However, the latter’s legs were missed by inches, and upon examination it was found that the man, who hae been identified as James Hall, a labourer, aged 38, had a serious scalp wound, and his head and face were bespattered with blood. Hall was unable to give any coherent account of how hie injury was sustained, and how he got into the position in which he was found. Hall received attention and was removed to the Napier Hospital, where he is reported tonight to be progressing well.
