The weather was fine and the track in good order. The attendance was up to the average during the afternoon. Won by a neck, with a length between second and third. The Rook was fourth. Time, 2min. 16 l-ssec. This year’s Auckland Cup should be one of the fastest two mile races ever run in the Dominion. Twenty-one proved stayers are engaged, and allowin'- for a few to drop out, one of the speediest lots of horses ever seen together should be worth going a long way to see. HORSES FOR TARANAKI. Trainer Gough arrived from Avondale by train yesterday afternoon with Arch Annie and Cynelli, who have engagements at the Taranaki Jockey Club and Stratford meetings. OWNERS’ REMINDERS. Horseowners and trainers are finally reminded that acceptances for the Taranaki Jockey Club’s Christmas meeting close to-day. Air. Coyle’s weights for flic first day of the Taranaki meeting have been framed on equitable lines, and first-class acceptances are anticipated. the fine stakes offered at New Plymouth and at Stratford not only inducing Taranaki owners to raee in their own province this holiday season, but also attracting good horses from Auckland, Waikato, Wanganui. Hawke’s Bay and Wellington. Secretary E. P. Webster has all arrangements complete for the success of the Taranaki meeting, and will receive acceptances up till 9 p.m. this ening. A fair sprinkling of Taranaki horses will be seen out at the Auckland Racing Club’s summer meeting.
