MY DOC BIM.

BY STEWART ROME. Last December I was far from home —in one of the wildest parts of Ireland, where I was 'playing the rollebf Miles No-Cpppalecn .fur the film “Golcen Bawn." Fortunately, the part required a dog .so I was able to take my own devoted “Bim" with me. Without him I should have been indeed a stranded stranger in a strange land. Bim has his own ideas of cornfort. And he has long since undertaken the training- of his master in this respect. Bim likes a nice warm fire, and a man sitting beside it in an armchair smoking a pipe meditatively, so that he can rest, his head upon the man's feet. Since I've had Bim, I've grown to share his views, and many's the pleasant evening we’ve spent alone together. In Ireland the essential home comforts, perhaps, were lacking. Bim went on long tramps down the road with me; but it was evident he was not quite satisfied. One night, just before Christmas, there happened to be a dense fog, and after I had been walking some distance I suddenly realised that Bim was not following. I whistled; I searched high and low; but all to no purpose. Finally I turned back, feeling very unhappy. Me had always been such a pal to me. Presently I passed a cheerful-look-ing Irish inn, and a man who stood outside greeted me. “Will it be yoor dog yoore lookin’ for, sorr?” he asked. “Because, begorra, he’s waitin' fur ye inside 1" And again I had to admit that Bim was right. That hot Irish whisky tasted good on a foggy night.
