FATHER CHRISTMAS IN OTHER LANDS.
In England, on Christmas Eve, they expect to see Father Christn as descend the chimney. If you told .his to a little French boy or girl they would not understand you, because they have another name for the kind of gentleman who every Christmas Eve fills our stockings with toys. In France he is called “Bonhomme Noel.” ■When “Bonhomme Noel” goes do-wn the chimne.vs in France he does not find stockings to fill; he finds a pair of wooden siloes—sabots -they are called— placed neatly near the hearth. ! In Germany Father Christmas is called “Knecht Clobes.” Another name we have' for Father Christmas is -‘Saint Nicholas.”
