WIFE DESERTER GETS GAOL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Dec. 14. For the unlawful conversion of a car at Blenheim, John Thomas Alexander Gibson, aged 37, was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment. The police stated that Gibson deserted his wife and children at Blenheim and took a motor-car which he drove to Nelson, abandoning it there. Accused was ordered to pay £1 10s a week towards the maintenance of his wife and children, the first payment to be made in six weeks’ time.
