A message from London states that Prince George has arrived home from China, where he was serving on the Admiral’s flagship. News from Seattle states that Charles Lawrence, who took the first Australian cricket team to England, died on Friday. The Rev. G. P. Hunt, of the Methodist Church, Stratford, will leave for Sydney immediately after Christmas. He will be stationed at South Sydney Methodist Mission in exchange for the Rev. C. A. Sims for a short time. - Mrs. Hunt will accompany him to Australia. The congregation of St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Wellington, has deflnitely decided to send a call to the Rev. Julian Ralph Blanchard, M.A., of Perth, and the Presbytery has approved of the call being sent to the West Australian Presbytery, states a Press Association message. An old settler in the Dominion passed to his rest some days ago at Opotiki in the person of Mr. Woodford, who had been resident in that district for a long time. Mr. Woodford, who had reached the age of 86 years, had been in perfect health until shortly before his death. Mrs. William Wallace, of Hawera, is a daughter, and another daughter is Miss Woodford, formerly on the staff of St. Mary’s School, and who is now at Pukekohe. One son was killed in the Great War. A message from Pahiatua states that the Hon. A. D. McLeod, Minister of Lands, paid a brief visit to that district yesterday, when he motored from Dannevirke through the Waitaliora Valley, Coonoor, and Makuri. He was accompanied by the Under-Secretary for Lands, Mr. Thompson, Mr. E. A. Ransom, M.P. for the district, and Mr. Mulligan, private secretary. The Minister said he was very pleased with the country be had seen, which is looking very well. After lunch the party proceeded to the Wairarapa. —Press Assn.
