A few years ago a journey to New Plymouth was an event in the lives of coastal residents, the trip involving a ride lasting for several hours in a horse drawn coach over rough metalled roads. Indeed, to transact a little business necessitated an absence from home of at least two or three days. To-day thanks to the improved road surfaces and the splendid and convenient timetable maintained by Gibsons Motors, Ltd., with their magnifieient fleet of buses and cars, a journey to New Plymouth is merely a pleasant incident that varies the routine of farm life, farmers being able to visit New Plymouth, transact business and return home between milkings at a maximum of comfort and a minimum of expense.
