PUBLIC WORKS MINISTER
TOUR OF MARLBOROUGH. By Telegraph.—Frees Association. Blenheim, Last Night. On Saturday, the Minister of Works, the Hon. K. S, Williams, accompanied by the assistant-chief engineer of Public Works, Mr. MtfKenzie, opened the new bridge over- the Awatere River, near Upcot, known as the Limestone Ford. A very large and representative attendance from all round the district, including Marlborough Land Board, Awatere and Marlborough County Councils, and other local bodies, and W. J. Girling, njember tor the district, Mrs. J. W. Shirtcliffe, wife of the riding representative, cut the tape when the bridge was declared open. In the course of his remarks, the Minister stated that he would instruct Mr. McKenzie to inspect the site of the proposed bridge over the Hodder and report. The Minister returned to Blenheim in the evening. On Monday afternoon he proceeds to Kaikoura, returning via Blenheim and Pieton to Wellington by the Tamahine on Tuesday.
