A cable published last week stated: Fascist militia and a battalion of infantry are scouring a terror-stricken countryside, aearcliing for a bandit named Ballastro and his gang. They are suspected of having murdered a young Fascist, Nino Cavarino, at Ventimiglia, two carabinieri at Milan, and two gendarmes, Sommaschino and Gerby, whose bodies were found at Camporotra while the funeral of Cavarino was taking place.
