AUSTRALIAN PHENOMENON STRONGER TRANSMISSION BY DAY. GOOD SPEED BEING ACHIEVED By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. ' Received Dec. 10, 5.5 p.m. London, Dec. 9. A strange phenomenon occurred in the course of the Australian beam tests showing that the day-time . transmission was stronger and clearer than at night, when fading was experienced. Already a speed of 100 words a minute has been achieved during favourable periods. It is understood that the aerials here and in Australia are being altered in an endeavour to overcome the fading which may delay the opening service until after the New Year.
