Elizabeth Wylie was found guilty on a charge of procuring abortion, after trials extending over weeks, and sentenced to three years’ hard labour. Mr. Justice Ostler said that while taking into consideration the jury’s recommendation to mercy, he could not let such a serious offence pass without imposing a substantial penalty. Lily Lodge was charged with aiding and abetting and the jury returned a verdict of not guilty. ,
