NURSES' BUREAU
TARANAKI ORGANISATION. A well-attended meeting of registered nurses was held on Wednesday evening for the purpose oL considering the formation of a nurses* bureau in New Plymouth. Dr. Thomson, who presided, said the question was whether it would be necessary or an advantage to the certificated nurses of the town to have a bureau. Nurses who were open to engagement could then notify the secretary, who would keep a list with the names in order of application. Thus when doctors or anyone else required a nurse in a hurry they need only communica’te with the secretary and, unless any special nurse was stipulated, the first name on the list would be given. He then moved that a bureau be formed in New Plymouth on the lines of those at Napier and other places. This was seconded by Sister Webster and carried unanimously. Dr. Thomson said that so far as medical men were concerned they would be very glad indeed to be able to get a nurse immediately. A committee consisting of Miss B. A. Campbell (matron of the New Plymouth Hospital), Miss G. Petersen (Plunket Nurse), and Sister Webster was elected, the secretary to be convenor. It was decided to hold the annual meeting on a date in March to be arranged by the committee. Nurse \\ hyte was appointed secretary and treasurer. .It was decided that the bureau function throughout Taranaki.
