PARIS FLAT TRAGEDY

MURDER AND SUICIDE DISPUTE WITH HOUSEKEEPER. MELANCHOLY MILLIONAIRE’S ACT. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Paris, Dec. 8. William H. Payne, aged 60, reputedly an American millionaire, who was occupying with his paralysed wife a luxurious flat in the Champs Elyssees, was cheeking accounts with his wife and housekeeper, Adrienne Henry, when a dispute arose. Payne rushed to a drawer, seized a revolver and slightly wounded the househeeper, who ran screaming to the kitchen. Payne followed, firing four shots and killing her. He returned to the sitting-room and fatally shot his wife, locked himself in the bedroom and committed suicide with the revolver. Mr. and Mrs. Payne recently made a world tour, and the husband returned suffering from melancholia.
