MOTOR THIEVES WARNED
HEAVY SENTENCE INFLICTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hamilton, Last Night. Lawrence Burton was charged with the theft of two motor-cycles in the Supreme Court to-day. The evidence showed that aeeused purchased two old second-hand machines and then stole two compUrajtively new ones. After interchanging their parts he threw the remainder of all four machines into the river. When found guilty on one charge he pleaded guilty to the second one. In sentencing the prisoner to twelve months’ imprisonment with hard labour on each charge, the sentences to- be eoneurrent, the Judge remarked tlrat the thefts had been carried out with considerable ingenuity. Motor thieves could take this case as a warning of the severity with which they would be dealt with in future.
