ACTIVITIES DURING THE YEARFOURTEENTH ANNUAL REPORT. Work done and to be. done at Kawaroad Park is dealt with in the report of the Foreshore Improvement Society to be presented at the fourteenth annual meeting to-morrow evening. "After recording a successful year from every standpoint the report says in part:— Improvements effected have been the laying down of two additional tennis courts at a cost of over £3OO, thereby increasing the revenue producing powers of the park. A broken year interfered considerably with the tennis takings, only £92 12s 6d being received fpm the four courts as against £74 Ss Gd last season from two courts. However, the coining season would be a complete one and the revenue should be well over £lOO. The croquet lawns, which were opened for play last week, are in excellent condition. The tar-sealing of Tisch Avenue was completed during the summer and has added greatly to the appearance of the park, and to the comfort of motorists. The annual picnic was again held on Easter Monday, over 5000 people being present from all parts of the district, and the committee were rewarded for their great effort to the extent of over £5OO. During the year an exceptional number of school pienics had been held at the park. Thanks are due to the public for its assistance as the various functions arranged by the committee, also to those who contributed, and the Borough Council for its help, which allowed for the many improvements to be effected. The balance-sheet reveals a credit ot £162 12s sd. Receipts for the year amount to the sum of £1139 4s lid, the main items being afternoon tea £17517s, euchre parties £l3O da 9<L shop £165 6s Id, donations £l2O 18s. out proceeds Easter picnic £373 10s. tennis courts -£92 12s 6d, rent £.59 6s 2d, borough subsidy (five quarters) £7O. The main directions in which expenditure has been made are in wages £330 10s. afternoon tea and euchre parties £172 8s 4d, shop expenses £ll619s sd, gas, electric light, repairs and maintenance, printing, etc-, £92 6s lOtl, general improvements, including tennis courts and pavilion, £568 10s 3d. The year’s working shows an excess of income over expenditure of £351 12s--sd, after allowing for .depreciation £757s lid. The committee has further schemes in view and as funds permit these will be carried out. The assets now total £40.52 Is 10d, as against £3625 Is 6d for the year ending September. 11)25. The report expressed thanks to the members of the committee for their unfailing support throughout the year, especially the ladies in connection with afternoon teas and other functions, and the men for their continued co-operu tion in the working of.the society.
