DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION.
MR. T. B. STRONG AS ASSISTANT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington,. Last Night. The appointment is announced of Mr. T. B. Strong, M.A., B.SC., chief inspector of schools, to the position of assistant director of education rendered vacant by the appointment of Dr. E. Marsden to the permanent secretaryship of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research.
Mr. Strong was born in London and came to New Zealand as a child, being educated at the Waimate District High School and the Otago University. After 15 years’ experience as a school teacher in Canterbury, Hawke’s Bay and Wanganui, he was appointed inspector of> schools under the Wanganui Education Board. In 1916 he was appointed senior inspector in the Wanganui education district. In 1920 when the new position of chief inspector of schools of the Dominion was created Mr. Strong was selected to fill it. His degrees were taken at Otago University. He is also experienced in secondary and technical work.
