OVERDUE SCHOONER.
FEARS FOR HER SAFETY. VESSEL BOUND FOR AUCKLAND. PROBABLY BLOWN OUT TO SEA. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Night. The American four-masted schooner Columbia, bound from Napier to Ane’* land, is now 15 days out. The vesb. discharged a full cargo of American lumber at Napier and was then sold to the Devonport Ferry Company, which intends to convert her into a coal hulk. The Columbia sailed Jrom Napier for Auckland on September 7, and at midday on September 15 was sighted by the Wainui in the Bay of Plenty. The schooner was then 15 miles north of White Island, and was standing out to sea with all sail set. Very stormy weather lias since been experienced on the coast, and no doubt the Columbia was blown well out to sea by the westerly gales. In her ligtft condition the vessel would have considerable difficulty in regaining the coast, and in consequence her arrival at Auckland may be further prolonged.
