TARANAKI JERSEYS.
SHIPMENT TO OTAGO. THE FIRST SALE AT GORE. BULLS AVERAGE 22 GUINEAS. (By Wire—Special to News.) Gore, Last Nigh*. The shipments of pedigree Jereey sat* tie sent to Otago from Taranaki recently, were sold at Gore to-day. Though to-day was a beautiful one the weather for the past fortnight has been the severest known for thirty years and the cows suffered accordingly, being somewhat light in appearance. About 200 dairy farmers from Dunedin to Invercargill attended the sale. The stock, both cows and bulls, were favourably commented upon. Bidding was keen on most lots, but it was evident that the farmers in the south do not yet properly appreciate the value of the bulls. Much enthusiasm was exhibited by Jersey breeders who met on Wednesday night and formed a Jersey cattle cl üb. The bulls and cows were well distributed between Dunedin and Invercargill and should prove good missionaries for the breed. The prices were as follow: PEDIGREE BULLS. On account Mr. A. J. ’Hale.
