VALUELESS CHEQUES.

ACCUSED ADMITS HIS GUILT. By Telegraph.—Press Association Palmerston N., Sept 13. In the Magistrate’s Court, Robert Forbes Read, described as a station manager, appeared on remand to answer ten charges of issuing valueless cheques, thereby obtaining goods and money. One charge related to an alleged offence at Wanganui, on which accused was remanded to appear there; the other .nine referred to offences committed at Palmerston North. Detective-Sergeant Quirke stated that the total amount, for which the cheques were issued was £2lO. Accused pleaded guilty and was committed "to the Supreme Court at Wellington for sentence.
