CROQUET CLUB BALL. The Kaponga Croquet Club upheld their reputation for doing things well bv giving one of the most successful balls of the season on Thursday evening. Although there was not such a great crowd present those who were there thoroughly- enjoyed themeelves and it was in the small hours of the morning before anyone thought of home. The hall and stage were very tastefully- decorated with royal blue and gold streamers and spring flowers, the work of Mr. S. Knight. Several forbidding looking croquet mallets were also included in the hall decorations. One hanging from the ceiling by what appeared to be a very- thin piece of string was eyed by- more than one couple with suspicion. The supper room was also tastefully- decorated with royal blue and gold streamers and spring flowers, the work of Mesdames T. Renton and W. Hislop. Mrs. R. Dagg decorated the supper tables. Boulton’s orchestra supplied the music, while the saxaphone played the strains of the latest jazz music. Extras were played by- Misses E. Bennie and M. Evans. During the evening several noveltydances were competed for, the winners being Mr. Davenport and partner (card) and Mr. Plumtree and partner (spot).
