Kilnsea is doomed. This ancient little village appears destined for the bottom of the ocean, a fate experienced by other Yorkshire towns of centuries past. The sea for some time has been working its way toward Kilnsea at the rate of about 13 inches a month. Coast erosion, due to high seas, has been causing eoneeKii all along the east Yorkshire coast. It is being washed! way at the rate 0f'2.27 feet per annum, near BridI’lington, increasing to 15.5 feet at Ki'nsea, which is near Spear Point.
