By Telegraph.—-Press Association,

Christchurch, Last Night

William Charles Drury and Robert William Palmer, each aged 17 years, were charged with having committed a common assault on Frederick Fisher, aged 17, of Lichfield Street. Sub-Inspec-tor Mathew said that the two lads pulled Fisher off his bicycle, dragged him into a shop, undid a portion of his garments, and painted his body with tar.

The. magistrate said that tie assault was of a serious nature, but in consideration of the defendant’s ages, and their good record, they would be convicted and ordered to pay witnesses’ expenses.
