GREYMOUTH RIVER EROSION.

LOCAL BODIES INVESTIGATING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. June 11. A meeting of representatives of local bodies to-night considered the problem of the erosion of land by the Grey River on Coal Creek Flat, a. little more than a mile from the town. A proposal by the settlers whose land is affected to erect groynes was submitted, towards the cost of which the county and borough councils, and the land and harbour boards are asked to contribute in anticipation of a Government subsidy. It was stated that railway property was being endangered by the ■ erosion. It was finally decided to obtain a report from the county, harbour and borough engineers, the delegates of the local* bodies being of the opinion that contributions would be forthcoming.
