PROTEST AGAINST ISSUE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A public meriting of 1300 persons, organised by the Council of the Christian Congregations, carried a resolution protesting against the action of the Auckland Licensing Committee in granting a license to the Ambassadors Hotel in Quay Street. The resolution said that in view of the position previously taken up by the committee, its action constituted a gross violation of the principles of ■democracy, and an abuse of the confidence reposed in it.
