The case of the exclusion from the United States of the Countess of Cathcart, who was concerned with the Earl of Craven in a divorce action,. was considered by the Department of Labour to-day behind closed doors.
The National Women’s Party delegation, bearing a telegram from the Countess of Cathcart declaring that she “hoped the cast is dead for my children’s sake/’ was denied permission to intercede in the hearing and the delegation adjourned to the sidewalk in front of the building for a mass meeting of protest. The Earl of Craven, in an interview at Montreal, declared: “The Countess of Cathcart only came over as a sort of publicitystunt and to get a hit at me.” He said he was leaving for Bermuda immediately.
