The tremendous growth of the petroleum industry is shown by an analysis of the operations for 1925 issued by the Bureau of Mines, Department of Commerce. Practically all former records were broken, both for the consumption and production of crude oil, petrol and other products. In 1925 the world output of crude oil was 1060 million barrels, an increase of 5J per eent. over 1924, largely due to an increase of fifty million barrels in the United States, where the 1925 production was 764 million barrels. The output of motor fuels for 1925 was approximately 11,240 million gallons,’ in which connection the United States refineries produced 21 per cent, more than 1924, namely, 10,886 million gallons, ot which the domestic consumption was 9362 million gallons, and 1330 million gallons were exported.
