ORDERING BY POST.
THINGS TO REMEMBER. One of the snags that av/aite the woman who is obliged to do some of her shopping by post is that in her ignorance of the prosper appellations of things, die is apt to incorrectly describe her requirements, and so secure goods which she never meant to order. Hero are a few wrinkles as to the names, now given to various articles of which the average woman is probably unaware Suppose she wishes to equip herself with some of the new undergarments designed for wear beneath cami-kniekra and woven of silk and merino with fine ribbings, she must refer to “Underpantes,” for this is tfeir official name. Very abbreviated as either end, they do not make themselves apparent above or below the ornate garment, and afford just that extra warmth which is sometimes necessary. If she wants to secure a length of that shimmering silvery-surfaced satin that is shot with pale colours, then she must specify "Crepe Argent”; otherwise she wM probably get an ordinary shot taffetas, which will not give at all the same effect. This clever fabric is made from artifieial silk.
Another wry important point. A felt hat of the order that does not lose its shape and is hand-blocked is known as a “fur felt.” The description “Felt" alone spells all sorts of base imitations which give very much Jess wear. As a general piece ot advice—quote numbers wherever possible, or send patterns if you have them.
