THE WOOL MARKET.

PRICES AT CHRISTCHURCH. GOOD CLEARANCE MADE. By Telecrarti.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The Christchurch woo! sale was concluded to-day, when the standard of prices set the previous evening was maintained. Most classes of wool showed an appreciation on the Timaru rates of the preceding week, Merinos and shabby wools being the exception. There was no change in these classes. Medium quality crossbreds and halfbreds recorded better values by up to a penny and super halfbreds by about a halfpenny. All classes of Merinos, however, were practically unaltered on tfm Timaru rates, and were from a penny to well on to twopence lower than tl’e -Christ church January rates. No wool offered to-day sold at the figures recorded here live weeks ago, and apart from Merinos the easing on that market averaged about a penny per lb. Vendors, however, met the market and only 1700 odd bales, or about 8 per cent of the offering, was passed. The activity displayed by Bradford buyers on the opening night was maintained, and the. bulk of the wool went into the hands of that centre’s representatives, with the Continent securing a good share of the small proportion of crossbred in the catalogue and also the better pieces. The top price of the sale was 20d for a 34 bales lot. Merino made 19Jd for 19 bales, and comb made 19Jd for 17 bales. The range of prices was;—: Merino— Superior 18d to 19-fd Medium 15d to 17d Inferior 12jd to laid Corriedale— Super 17Jd to 19-fd Medium 15d ty> 17d Inferior 12fd to 14M Fine halfbred— Super 17(d to 20d Medium lod to I7d Inferior UJd to 14Jd Medium halfbred Super 16d to ISd Medium 14}d to 154 d Inferior ll;jd to 14d Coarse halfbred— Super ................. 15d to 16Jd Medium 13Jd to 14.? d Inferior ..............9-Jd to 12Jd Three-quarterbred—i Extra super, to 173 d Super ................. 12/d to lid Medium Jpjd to 12d Inferior 9Jd to 10.1<l Medium crossbred—!
