DISTRICT NEWS.
NORFOLK ROAD. (From Our Own Correspondent-.) After having been postponed for a fortnight owing to inclement weather, the official opening of the Norfolk Road tennis courts took place on Thursday, October 29. The day being fine, a large number attended and took part in a mixed doubles '“knock-out” tournament, which was won by Mrs. Thomason and R. C. Adlam, Mrs. Crozier and W. Meger being runners-up. The prizes for the tournament were donated by Miss Wilson (ladies’) and Mr. Marshall (men’s). During the afternoon tea was dispensed by the. ladies and afterwards the president (Mr. A. Marshall) congratulated the club on its success and its splendid financial position. He then declared the courts open for the season. Play was then Tesumed until the declining rays of the sun warned most of the players that it was -time the evening’s milking was commenced, when all save a favoured few departed, feeling that they had had an enjoyable day.
