Painleve) hsa announced that General Petain would remain in Morocco tut long as circumstances demanded. He added that peace negotiations were proceeding, but at the same time all necessary measures were being taken to consolidate the frontier and deliver a decisive stroke, which would ensure lasting peace.

Ab Del Krim (the Riff leader) had been informed that two official emissaries from France and Spain were in possession of the terms of peace and he could learn them if he wished.
