PETROL SUPPLIES.

BULK SYSTEM OF DISTRIBUTION. The recent press reports regarding projected petroleum spirts bulk installations in Australasia give further evidence of the increasing influence of motor transport in our commercial life. The bulk system of distributing petroleum spirits is by no means new to the Antipodes, as the British Imperial Oil Company Ltd. introduced twenty-four years ago the .system in which their American competitors are now interesting themselves. In 1901 the Shell Company inaugurated the bulk method of importation and distribution in Australia and since this time development has been rapid, involving the British company in an expenditure up to date of nearly £1,500,000. In addition to the “SHELL” Company’s existing bulk installations in Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide, where over 1,000 men are regularly employed, this company has now under construction new seaport installations at Brisbane, Fremantle, and Wellington.*
