Surprise was caused at the presentation of trophies won at the Stamford Bridge athletic meeting when it was announced that the medals won by the American, Murchison, for the 100 and 220 yards, would be withheld pending investigations into his amateur status. Received July 20, 5.5 p.m. London, July 19. The Athletic Association is withholding Murchison’s trophies, due to the alleged payment of his expenses in Germany. where Murchison and Paddock recently competed. Murchison denies the allegations.
